Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q. I saw your park listed on the Internet. How do you say the name?

A. Hearing people try to pronounce the name is funny sometimes. I’m tempted to keep it going,  but I won’t. The correct pronunciation of Noccalula is “KNOCK’-A- LOO’-LA”.  Falls is said normally.

Q, I’ve looked everywhere on this site but I can’t seem to find your pricing anywhere. Can you tell me the price of everything?

A. We sure can. You can go directly to the Rental Information page by clicking Right Here. Choose the dropdown list labeled “Park Admission” near the bottom of the page.

Q. Does your park rent wheelchairs or strollers?

A.  No, we do not.

Q. I want to hike down underneath the waterfall. Is that allowed?

A. Yes, we have trails on each side of the park that lead down to and behind the falls. On the Paid admission side of the park, there is a Trail marked as “Gorge Trail”. It is the easiest way to get down there. On the campground side, there is also a gorge trail, but it is a much more difficult hike involving steep grades and elevation changes. User discretion recommended.

Q. I’m having trouble getting my GPS to take me to your park. Can you please help me?

A. When it comes to entering data into your GPS, a lot of  folks will notice our Noccalula Falls Park address and use it assuming the address to the Park and the Campground are the same. Each area actually has a separate address divided by Black Creek, the creek that divides our parks in half. That being said, here are the proper addresses to use for each side of the park.

Noccalula Falls Park – 1500 Noccalula Rd. Gadsden, AL 35904

Noccalula Falls Campground – 1600 Noccalula Rd. Gadsden, Alabama 35904

Q. Why is your Train not running?

A. Great news!! As of Thanksgiving Night, 2022, our trains are back n service. For tose of you not in the know, we did not have our trains for nearly a year because we purchased new trains for the park. This required extensive work to be done in the park, including wider tracks that didn’t fit our old trains. So come on down and enjoy our new trains!!

Q, Is Noccalula Falls Pet Friendly?

A. For the most part, yes. Pets are allowed into both the Park side areas as well as the campground side areas as long as they are on a leash and under control by their human. There are certain events where we restrict pets from the park. These events are usually the events when the park is very crowded and as such may overly excite the animals. Recognized Service Animals are always welcome everywhere and anywhere at Noccalula Falls, (Emotional support pets are not recognized as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA approved service animals)

Q. Can pets ride the train?

A. Not unless they are ADA recognized Service Animals. No other animals are allowed (not counting Train Drivers of course)

Q. The last time I came to your park, the waterfall was not flowing. How can I make sure the water is turned on?

A. Noccalula Falls’ water flow is in no way controlled by us. it is controlled 100% by Mother Nature. Factors such as amount of rainfall, ground saturation, and time of year all contribute to the flow of water over the falls.

Q. Can I drive your trains? I used to drive a FILL IN THE BLANK.

A. Ah, no. LOL. (Unless you want to come work for us here at the Falls and get trained, then yeah. Click here for an application)

Q, Are campers allowed to have campfires?

A. Yes, campfires are welcome but only with a heavy dose of common sense. When you have a fire and get ready to turn in or leave, make sure the fire is completely extinguished. Keep this rule in mind. If you still see smoke, a fire can reignite once dry again. Some people bring along fire pits. These are great to minimize risks as well.

Q. Can we bring our own firepit?

A. Yes you can. Just make sure you do so safely.

Q, Are animals allowed in the campground.

Q. Are there any primitive campsites in the campground.

A.No, no primitive sites are available.

Q. Does admission to Noccalula Falls Campground also include admission to Noccalula Falls Park or Mini Golf.

A. No it doesn’t, although the admission to both the park and mini golf are super reasonable. For current rates, CLICK HERE> Scroll down to the “Park Admission” section. Click to see the current park pricing.

Q. Does your Park have good trails for family hiking and biking?

A. 100% yes. We have over 14 miles of trails winding around and through the Campground side of the park, as well as the Gorge Trail (that takes you down and behind the Falls) in the Park side of our land. There are also biking trails as well. Note: All parties must have a helmet on when riding a bike on any area of our park.)

Q. Are any of your campsites located on the water or waterfront.

A. No. Because the water that flows over the falls is  not controlled or regulated, the water in the gorge is subject to flooding. We do not allow camping anywhere in the gorge itself. Add to that our campground is located on the top of the gorge, it would not be close to the water.

Q. Can we bring our own firewood?

A. Sure. We also have firewood available to purchase in the Campground office.

Q. What time of year / hours is the pool open?

A. The pool is open every day beginning on Memorial Day and ending on Labor Day, from 9:00am – 9:00 pm.

Q. Where is the actual waterfall located?

A. Black Creek dives our park into two sections, the paid park side and the campground side. They falls is located in the area that bridges both sides, near the large parking lot near our Chapel. Here are the GPS coordinates: 34.0415° N, 86.0211° W

Q. Do you rent campers, tents, or equipment used to camp?

World’s Longest Yard Sale Questions

Petting Zoo Questions

Q. Is the Animal Habitat open?

A. In May of 2021, we lost our barn to a major fire. In that fire we lost a number of animals but thankfully we were fortunate enough to have saved all of our barnyard animals. It was a trying time for us but as always we persevered. With a lot of hard work, we were able to restore an area for our barnyard animals. These animals are doing well and you are welcome to come hang out with them. The Animal Habit is open the same hours as the regular park (These hours vary. Our most current hours are shown at the bottom of the page)

Q. You mentioned the barn burning down in 2021. Is there a plan to rebuild it?

A. Happily, the answer is yes. We hope to begin building soon and replenishing the barn with new animal friends. Check our Blog for the latest information.
